Allen F. Harris is a founding partner of Harris Divorce & Family Law, an Atlanta-based law firm dedicated solely to resolving family law and divorce-related matters. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Allen has gained a thorough understanding of the complex and sensitive issues family law cases often involve, and has extensive experience handling legal concerns related to child custody, child visitation, alimony, child support, property division and prenuptial agreements.
Allen graduated from Mercer School of Law with honors in 1985 and spent the first year of his legal career serving as a law clerk for judges on the South Georgia Judicial Circuit. After his clerkship ended, Allen took a position with an Atlanta insurance defense firm where he gained invaluable trial practice experience and knowledge. Allen is honored to have received an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating an attorney can achieve. He has also authored several articles on family law topics, is a frequently featured legal seminar speaker and remains an active member of several professional organizations, including the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, the Atlanta Bar Association (Family Law Section) and State Bar of Georgia (Family Law Section).
Allen represents clients in divorce and family law matters throughout the North Atlanta area, including Roswell, Marietta, East Cobb, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Milton, Cumming, Brookhaven, Dunwoody, Buckhead, Vinings, and Sandy Springs.
*AV Preeminent and BV Distinguished are certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell peer review ratings fall into two categories: legal ability and general ethical standards.
Alyssa joined Harris Divorce and Family Law in January of 2020 and has practiced family law exclusively since 2018. Prior to becoming a family law attorney, Alyssa was a prosecutor where she gained extensive trial experience, both in front of juries and the bench.
Alyssa earned her Juris Doctor at Georgia State University College of Law.
While in law school, Alyssa was an active member of the Family Law Society and served as a student member of the Weltner Family Law Inn of Court. Alyssa interned with the Honorable Jane C. Barwick of the Superior Court of Fulton County, Family Division.
In practice, Alyssa largely focuses on divorces and custody modifications. Alyssa prides herself on offering responsive and empathetic counsel. She believes that it is the primary role of the attorney to remain objective while zealously advocating for the client. She remains mindful of the fact that the parties often have to maintain a co-parenting relationship long after the attorney's job is done; thus, protracted litigation rarely serves the family's best interest.
Alyssa was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Family Law in 2016 and has been a Super Lawyers Rising Star for the past three years. Alyssa is a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, the Cobb County Bar Association, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta.
